Boomerang is a simple app to improve on the drawbacks of the Android notification drawer. It allows you to save individual notifications for later and optionally set a reminder for a more convenient time – helping you to achieve notification drawer zero.
After a notification is removed (e.g. it is dismissed or tapped on) an unobtrusive notification will appear in its place for a short time, allowing you to save it for later.
Features include:
* You can save notifications for later, rather than keeping them from cluttering up the notification drawer.
* Only likely to save emails? Or social media notifications? You select which applications to show save prompts for.
* Set reminders to review saved notifications at a later time, or at a set time and date.
* Don\’t want to save every notification? Save prompts will remove themselves after 10 seconds (or set a shorter / longer time in the settings).
* View your most recent saved notifications and upcoming reminders for the current day with a quick access screen.
* Impact on battery performance is considered, with background operations designed to only be active when they have to be.
Permissions explained:
* \”notification listener service\” – Required to allow Boomerang\’s operations to run, including allowing you to save the notifications and create reminders.
* \”vibrate\” – Required to allow reminder notifications to vibrate when delivered, just the same as other notifications.
* \”run at startup\” – Required to allow the app to restart itself when the device turns on.
* \”stop the device from sleeping\” – Required to allow for some background processing, this is only used where necessary and only for seconds at a time.
* \”view network connections\” + \”full network access\” – Required for checking whether a network connection is active before sending/receiving anonymous usage data. Your notification content is not collected, your privacy is taken very seriously.
